The Martinez Brothers

From:New York, USA

DJ style:“Anything that makes you dance!”

Best known for:“Cuttin’ Headz events, ‘P.A.P.’, fashion and style.”

It’s been another non-stop year for the production and DJ duo from the Bronx NYC, as Steve and Chris make another deserved appearance in our Top 100 DJs list. Infamous for their ten-year Circoloco DC-10 residency, the siblings continued their family tradition of smashing it up in Ibiza every season with a third successful Hï Ibiza summer residency. Making Tuesday nights on the island their own, they continued with a music policy informed by their NYC house background but embracing a broader sound, with guests including Skepta, Honey Dijon, Black Coffee and DJ Minx.
This year they also played back at DC-10 and Amnesia in Ibiza along with festivals including Spain’s Sonar, ARC Music Festival Chicago, Audio Obscura in Holland and Italy’s Panorama Festival. Aside from their full-on DJ diary, The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin ’Headz label put out a clutch of peak-time house jams from the likes of INVT & K-Lone, Silvie Loto and Jackmaster feat. Kid Enigma, while Cuttin’ Headz events celebrated 10 years of international parties this year too. And currently, they’ve only got one thing on their minds: “We’ve really been taking hold of our business and are now focused on getting back into the studio hardcore. Time to make some jams!”

Faustix

From:Denmark

DJ style: “Big techno.”

Best known for: “Collaboration with Diplo, Faustix, Imanos and Kai called ‘Revolution’.”

Everything about 2024 was big and bold for Faustix. The Danish dance music lifer found a new sound over the course of the past year, where ropey and dramatic arpeggios dart in and out of brash techno kicks and every drop feels like barreling down a dopamine rollercoaster. Each release seemed to push the envelope further and further — from the soaring emotions of ‘Lead Me To Love You’ with vocalist Mougleta to ‘All My Friends Are Hot’, whose cheeky vocal flip (“All my friends are hot and only listen to techno”) was the perfect summer festival anthem. Add to that a teased remix of Belgian Stromae ‘Alors on danse’ and it’s clear that 2024 was, without a doubt, the year Faustix found a whole new groove.

While he’s certainly been busy in the studio, Faustix has also played everywhere — from 13,000 person raves in the middle of Copenhagen to gigs on the Faroe Islands. Faustix, in other words, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas for even a second. And, with each gig and release, he is testament to how much people still love pumping, hard-edged techno.
