Amelie Lens

From:Belgium

DJ style:“Techno.”

Best known for:“Melodic and high energy sets.”

Amelie Lens’ accolades and achievements are seemingly endless. After her debut release, ‘Exhale’, on Lyase Recordings catapulted the Belgian DJ and producer onto the global techno stage, she continued to frequent labels like Drumcode and Second State, before launching two now-beloved techno imprints of her own: EXHALE and Lenske. EXHALE is now also an equally successful events series, that’s made stops in Ibiza, Belgium and London in the last 12 months.

Taking a brief pause from touring late last year, Lens and her partner in music and life, Farrago, welcomed baby girl Kiki in December. While her touring schedule seems slightly less jammed as motherhood (rightly) takes priority, there’s been new music in the form of single, ‘Breathe’, and Lens’ EXHALE compilation contribution ‘Underneath The Strobelights’, and a huge, highly-anticipated b2bannouncement. After teasing the news on socials, Amelie Lens and fellow Belgian techno titan Charlotte de Witte announced two b2b shows at Flanders Expo in their home country, set to take place next February.

Ahead of that though, there’s EXHALE Colombia, Amsterdam’s Awakenings Festival, Contact Festival in Munich, Rome’s Spazio 900, and an all-night-long set also confirmed for Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo, and another at NYC’s B

Faustix

From:Denmark

DJ style: “Big techno.”

Best known for: “Collaboration with Diplo, Faustix, Imanos and Kai called ‘Revolution’.”

Everything about 2024 was big and bold for Faustix. The Danish dance music lifer found a new sound over the course of the past year, where ropey and dramatic arpeggios dart in and out of brash techno kicks and every drop feels like barreling down a dopamine rollercoaster. Each release seemed to push the envelope further and further — from the soaring emotions of ‘Lead Me To Love You’ with vocalist Mougleta to ‘All My Friends Are Hot’, whose cheeky vocal flip (“All my friends are hot and only listen to techno”) was the perfect summer festival anthem. Add to that a teased remix of Belgian Stromae ‘Alors on danse’ and it’s clear that 2024 was, without a doubt, the year Faustix found a whole new groove.

While he’s certainly been busy in the studio, Faustix has also played everywhere — from 13,000 person raves in the middle of Copenhagen to gigs on the Faroe Islands. Faustix, in other words, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas for even a second. And, with each gig and release, he is testament to how much people still love pumping, hard-edged techno.

Fave tune of 2024?
