Bassjackers

From:The Netherlands

DJ style:“High energy EDM.”

Best known for:“Being one of the most productive EDM acts and playing high energy sets.”

Making it a clean 10-in-10 means you must be doing something right. Ranking in the Top 100 DJs poll for the past decade, Bassjackers have clearly garnered a loyal following in the EDM world. The pair — aka DJ Marlon Flohr and studio type Ralph van Hilst — have managed to build that through serious graft, constantly keeping up with a workload that would send many into meltdown. Over the past few months this has included collaborations with Yves V (‘Alibi’) and Steve Aoki (‘Flashing Lights’, ‘Voices In My Head’), to name just two significant projects.

Unsurprisingly, then, the duo say 2024 has been their busiest year yet, with studio efforts alone enough to keep them frantically busy. Alongside the aforementioned releases, there have been joint tracks with the likes of Hardwell, Oliver Heldens, ZHANGYE, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, not to mention the free releases they’ve gifted to the world. Then there’s the intimidating tour calendar, which has seen Bassjackers land at events and venues ranging from the rural jungle paradise of Laroc, Brazil, to Tomorrowland, and Asia’s largest festival (and one of the biggest on the planet) Sunburn. More than enough to land them a spot here again, then.

Faustix

From:Denmark

DJ style: “Big techno.”

Best known for: “Collaboration with Diplo, Faustix, Imanos and Kai called ‘Revolution’.”

Everything about 2024 was big and bold for Faustix. The Danish dance music lifer found a new sound over the course of the past year, where ropey and dramatic arpeggios dart in and out of brash techno kicks and every drop feels like barreling down a dopamine rollercoaster. Each release seemed to push the envelope further and further — from the soaring emotions of ‘Lead Me To Love You’ with vocalist Mougleta to ‘All My Friends Are Hot’, whose cheeky vocal flip (“All my friends are hot and only listen to techno”) was the perfect summer festival anthem. Add to that a teased remix of Belgian Stromae ‘Alors on danse’ and it’s clear that 2024 was, without a doubt, the year Faustix found a whole new groove.

While he’s certainly been busy in the studio, Faustix has also played everywhere — from 13,000 person raves in the middle of Copenhagen to gigs on the Faroe Islands. Faustix, in other words, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas for even a second. And, with each gig and release, he is testament to how much people still love pumping, hard-edged techno.
