Cuebrick

From:Germany

DJ style:“Big room techno / progressive house.”

Best known for:“High-energy live performances around the world and collaborations with top artists like Blasterjaxx, Neelix, Vize and more.”

“I’ve been focusing on the idea that there are no boundaries when it comes to music or genres,” says Rouven Hager, the German firebrand known worldwide as Cuebrick. “It’s all about the music itself and not about fitting into any box or category.” A slew of upbeat releases in 2024 prove that the genre-bending producer always keeps his word. Between candy-coated big room grooves like ‘Viral’ — his collaboration alongside South Korean star, DJ Soda, and Prezioso — as well as the pumping future house cut ‘RADAR’ with MOKABY on Hexagon Records, Cuebrick is constantly reinforcing the notion that creativity is king and every style is fair game.

The approach is paying off, too, as the in-demand star spent much of his year touring across Asia, Europe and the United States, in addition to playing famous stages like Airfield Rotenburg closer to home in Germany and as far away as Thailand’s Illuzion Phuket festival. Even as travel picked up, the leading producer still found time to release his twice-monthly radio show, Cuebrick’s Conference, in which he showcases a setlist from rising artists and EDM mainstays that proves itself as sonically rich as his own ever-shifting soundprint. “The goal has always been to keep evolving,” he shares confidently, revealing one possible secret behind his Top 100 DJs ascension.

Faustix

From:Denmark

DJ style: “Big techno.”

Best known for: “Collaboration with Diplo, Faustix, Imanos and Kai called ‘Revolution’.”

Everything about 2024 was big and bold for Faustix. The Danish dance music lifer found a new sound over the course of the past year, where ropey and dramatic arpeggios dart in and out of brash techno kicks and every drop feels like barreling down a dopamine rollercoaster. Each release seemed to push the envelope further and further — from the soaring emotions of ‘Lead Me To Love You’ with vocalist Mougleta to ‘All My Friends Are Hot’, whose cheeky vocal flip (“All my friends are hot and only listen to techno”) was the perfect summer festival anthem. Add to that a teased remix of Belgian Stromae ‘Alors on danse’ and it’s clear that 2024 was, without a doubt, the year Faustix found a whole new groove.

While he’s certainly been busy in the studio, Faustix has also played everywhere — from 13,000 person raves in the middle of Copenhagen to gigs on the Faroe Islands. Faustix, in other words, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas for even a second. And, with each gig and release, he is testament to how much people still love pumping, hard-edged techno.
