The counts are in and REZZ remains the reigning queen of menacing, mid-tempo grooves. Pointing to studio time as a key focus of her past year, 2024 marked the arrival of the ‘Can You See Me?’ LP (out on her homegrown HypnoVizion imprint) — a 10-track, collab-heavy album that proved itself even filthier than its three full-length predecessors. The credits read like a who’s who among bass artists — names like Blanke, INZO, Subtronics and HOLLY are all in the cuts, reinforcing REZZ’s undying team-player mentality. Working alongside EDM titans is hardly new territory for the Canadian beatmaker, who hit the scene as one of Mau5trap’s MVPs around 2015 after label boss Deadmau5 recognized a protege within her (she also dropped her ‘Insurrection’ EP on Skrillex’s now-defunct NEST imprint that same year.)
Almost a decade later she’s still creating with the best of them, but with her fourth Top 100 placement, her solo triumphs deserve attention, too. ‘Can You See Me?’ served as the focal point for REZZ’s jaw-dropping stage show, which recently unfolded at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This iteration — REZZ Rocks VI — broke records by selling out in literal seconds, revealing that the “Space Mom” behind the swirling glasses will always enrapture wub-thirsty fans with her darkly hypnotic beats.
Fave tune of 2024?
