Topic

From:Germany

DJ style: “Melodic house”

Best known for: “‘Breaking Me’, ‘I Adore You’.”

Since the Croatian-German DJ and producer Topic broke out in 2015 with the platinum-certified track ‘Home (feat. Nico Santos)’ on WM Germany, the chart-topping artist has released a slew of notable records. Having built up an extensive back catalogue, his work includes a remake of ATB’s seminal tune ‘9 PM (Till I Come)’, retitled ‘Your Love (9PM)’ feat. A7S on the mighty Positiva Records in 2021. The Dubai-based artist’s previous collaborations with GRAMMY-winning names like rapper Lil Baby, singer Bebe Rexha, Brit Award-winning talent Becky Hill, and electronic music group Clean Bandit all displayed Topic’s versatility as a producer.

Having lapped the globe in 2024, stopping off at Tomorrowland, Parookaville, Ultra Croatia, Pacha Ibiza, and “hitting the gym for balance” in between, Topic released several more dance anthems. He added a deep house flavour to his remix of Tanya’s ‘Si Ai’ via Pendragon Records, teamed up with Giuseppe Ottaviani and Sofiloud on ‘No Promises’ via Tomorrowland Music, released the emotional ‘Out My Head’ with A7S on Virgin, and the peak-time techno tune ‘Peakin” on WILD KID.

Faustix

From:Denmark

DJ style: “Big techno.”

Best known for: “Collaboration with Diplo, Faustix, Imanos and Kai called ‘Revolution’.”

Everything about 2024 was big and bold for Faustix. The Danish dance music lifer found a new sound over the course of the past year, where ropey and dramatic arpeggios dart in and out of brash techno kicks and every drop feels like barreling down a dopamine rollercoaster. Each release seemed to push the envelope further and further — from the soaring emotions of ‘Lead Me To Love You’ with vocalist Mougleta to ‘All My Friends Are Hot’, whose cheeky vocal flip (“All my friends are hot and only listen to techno”) was the perfect summer festival anthem. Add to that a teased remix of Belgian Stromae ‘Alors on danse’ and it’s clear that 2024 was, without a doubt, the year Faustix found a whole new groove.

While he’s certainly been busy in the studio, Faustix has also played everywhere — from 13,000 person raves in the middle of Copenhagen to gigs on the Faroe Islands. Faustix, in other words, hasn’t taken his foot off the gas for even a second. And, with each gig and release, he is testament to how much people still love pumping, hard-edged techno.
