Splice has announced a new integration with AVID’s Pro Tools.
The new feature allows users to select and browse through Splice’s library of millions of samples directly from the DAW, allowing drag-and-drop integration directly onto the timeline.
Pro Tools users can also drag audio, samples and sounds from the timeline into the new Splice window and search for sounds in the Splice catalogue that match that audio, similar to Splice’s own AI-powered CoSo and Create A Stack features that launched over the past few years.
You can even select multiple tracks of audio and drag them in, and Splice will analyse them all together and recommend new audio that’s most compatible. Splice will automatically time stretch any samples to match the BPM of the project, and you can also hit the Transpose switch and it will automatically transpose samples to the key of your project.
Speaking about the integration, Avid’s SVP of Product, Kenna Hilburn, said, “Whether producers and artists are sketching out ideas, building out tracks, or applying final touches, Pro Tools’ Splice integration provides a more powerful environment for creating music — giving users the ability to quickly find the perfect sound while staying in their creative flow.”
In April, Splice announced it had acquired virtual instrument company Spitfire Audio for a reported $50 million (USD). That followed the launch of a new feature for its iOS app called Splice Mic.
