DJ style:High-energy melodies.

Best known for:Defying genres, and his helmet.

Mask-wearing DJ/producer Marshmello continued to cross genres in his productions while delivering DJ sets to some of the world’s biggest audiences in 2022. His Khalid collaboration ‘Numb’ has made the biggest impact of his own releases this year, racking up almost 20 million views on YouTube since its release in June — it has also been remixed by ALOK, KC Lights and DJ YUKI.

Marshmello continues to tease his much-anticipated ‘Joytime IV’ — the fourth instalment in his album series that started in 2016 — which he announced with the release of ‘BeFoRe U’ in March. The 11-track album is said to feature artists including Chicago drill rapper Polo G, Detroit MC 42 Dugg and the late Juice WRLD. The helmet has been seen everywhere from the F1 to the NFL in 2022, while Marshmello also ran a subscription service for his fans — which he affectionately calls his Mello Gang —andreleased a watermelon strawb

After finishing just outside of the Top 100 in 2021, this year German DJ and producer Cuebrick breaks in for the first time this year. He now sits at the top table of global dance music after standout shows everywhere from Los Angeles to San Francisco, Singapore to Bangkok.

While releasing big tunes on labels like Spinnin Records, Armada and Ultra Music, he also works as a radio-host on bigFM’s nitroX show, which is the biggest radio platform for electronic music in Germany.

This year he has worked on a new sound which he says “can best be described as a fusion of different elements from genres such as techno, hard techno, and trance. Hard techno kicks are the foundation, with classic trance synthesizers.” It’s a sound that has seemingly connected with fans, who will be pleased to learn Cuebrick has signed a deal meaning “Smash the House will be the main home for my music for at least the next two years.”
